How vehicle tax and your address are connected
Your vehicle tax is linked to your V5C registration certificate, which shows the registered keeper's address. When you update your V5C address with the DVLA, your vehicle tax records are updated at the same time — you don't need to do anything separately for vehicle tax. This is one of the reasons it's so important to update your V5C promptly.
What you need to do
Update your V5C logbook address online through the DVLA's service on GOV.UK. You'll need your V5C reference number, the document reference number from your V5C, and your new address. Once processed, your vehicle tax correspondence will go to your new address. If you haven't received your updated V5C within 4 weeks, contact the DVLA.

If you pay your vehicle tax by direct debit (monthly or six-monthly), the payments continue automatically when you change address. However, make sure your bank also has your new address, as a mismatch could cause your direct debit to fail. A failed vehicle tax payment could mean your vehicle becomes untaxed.
